# Polüoolid (E-kood rühm IV) Polüoolid on loodusliku või sünteetilise päritoluga maiusained, mida kasutatakse suhkru asendajatena erinevates maiust- ja dieettoitudele, näiteks maiustustes, jogurtites ja suutab-vabades toodetes. Neid ained imenduvad kõhukonnas aeglasemalt kui tavaline suhkur, mistõttu tekitavad väiksema veresuhkru tõusu ja sisaldavad vähem kaloreid. Polüoolid võivad pärineda nii looduslikest allikatest (näiteks maiust ja koor) kui ka tehisviisiliselt saadud keemilistest ainetest.
